TANGRAM, since the foundation of the Group ( 1977 ) has developed its activities on the international market and in the HEALTH CARE field.

Therefore since 1977, and in the above mentioned countries, more than 180 projects, mainly in the Health Care field, have been acquired and completed  (by 1998).

Service available for countrywide application or local facilities. Countrywide applications are often performed by TANGRAM as consultants to Public Authorities, starting from early general planning during project implementation, defining activities to be performed and specialists to be provided.

Initial investigations are generally based on available information on medical ( mainly epidemiology ) and demographic characteristics of the population to be served; activities are performed in collaboration with local institutions and/or consultants with the necessary experience and qualifications.

Studies can be carried out according to World Bank, African Development Bank and European Development Fund standards.

The FINANCIAL GROUP of TANGRAM owns and operates one of the most important DIAGNOSTIC CENTERS in Italy, which is also, one of the best equipped in Europe, called ‘ ISTITUTO IL BALUARDO ‘.

The ‘ Il Baluardo’ Diagnostic Center can be used for operative training of personnel and to provide Telemedicine Services.

The Company is independent, thus it is always able to select the most efficient equipment according to the available budget.

TANGRAM takes care of purchasing, installation and start-up of equipment.

TANGRAM issues the relevant operating and maintenance manuals to allow smooth operation of Centers.

The Management service may be carried out totally – either with reference to both the Medical and/or the administrative fields. In addition, TANGRAM can offer TELE CONSULTING SERVICES.

In the field of IMAGING-SYSTEM (R.M.I. and Computerized Axial Tomography) TANGRAM, through the “IL BALUARDO” DIAGNOSTIC CENTER, can also provide a 24 hrs/day tele-consulting service. The service (remote diagnostic) is performed via telephone/fax/Internet by specialist staff located in Genoa to the Customer’s specialist staff located in the Field.

This essential service is carried out on equipment either supplied or not supplied by the Company, on the basis of scheduled interventions or for equipment requiring upgrading or refurbishing.

Proper preventive maintenance ensures that the Customer has “cost effective” running for a very long period. As for the patients treated in the structure, problem prevention is the best way to be successful and to avoid the generation of sudden and costly problems.

This is complete service, starting from design and including purchasing, shipment, assembly of all furniture and equipment and start-up.

Buildings and Civil works are carried out directly or by subcontracting them to specialized local Companies : particularly, buildings will either be of the traditional type or built by prefab systems, according  to the Client’s wishes or needs.

TANGRAM is registered with the Italian ‘ Albo Nazionale Costruttori ‘ ( the National Register of Qualified Construction Companies ).

This is carried out on the basis of multi-disciplinary knowledge relevant to civil, mechanical and hydraulic engineering but, above all, to functional and general health care engineering; project design may also cover functioning, operating costs and organization.

TANGRAM can offer a high level of consulting activities also in management and planning, cost containment and reforms of health care institutions.

TANGRAM is and has been involved with Public Regional Health Care Authorities in construction and rehabilitation design, including supervision.

TANGRAM Group designs and builds a wide range of MOBILE HOSPITALS,  on all terrain. The Activities are performed by the specialized Group Company named TILOS  ( TANGRAM Integrated Logistic System ).

TANGRAM is the first Italian Engineering Company specializes in the Health Care field.

To build health centers, at 1 Km or 10,000 Km from home, always in less than 24 months, taking care of design (general and detailed), selecting and purchasing all project components ( a 100 bed hospital may require the purchase of more than 5000 items ), project management , shipping and installation on site, personnel  training, compilation of operating and maintenance manuals, cannot be done without an in depth knowledge of the business from the commercial, technical and managing point of view.

Most of the activities are computer-assisted: more than 22 years (by 1999) of operating experience has permitted the creation, updating and development of an important “data bank” which is a great asset to the Company.

TANGRAM attaches great importance to the development of technologies. For this purpose, TANGRAM periodically carries out applied Research Programs concerning new engineering products. A particular specialization has recently been achieved in the design of diagnostic and consulting centers.

There are, therefore, two types of Client working with TANGRAM with complete satisfaction. The first type requires turnkey projects.

These Clients request a complete service and rely on TANGRAM’S technology. Reliability, seriousness, experience, technology, engineering and complete management of all problems.

The second type requires feasibility studies, design, consultancy,  purchasing  service, equipment, project management service, installation supervision and/or upgrading of existing structures.

He requires one or several of these services, even separately.

The OPERATING EXPERIENCE – The DIAGNOSTIC CENTRE Owned and Managed by the FINANCIAL GROUP of TANGRAM: ' IL BALUARDO'

One of the Shareholders of TANGRAM is the main Shareholder of the “IL BALUARDO” Diagnostic Center in Genoa, one of the main private health-care centers in Italy; TANGRAM has been responsible for its design, construction and start-up. The Managing Director of TANGRAM has, for many years, been the President and Managing Director of the Center.

The GROUP therefore has the daily experience of managing the Center.

This is essential in order to have a better knowledge of the ‘ Health Product ‘.

‘ IL BALUARDO ‘ institute is multi functional diagnostic center situated in the oldest part of Genoa.

‘ IL BALUARDO ‘ covers about 2.000 square meters. : The building is an historic monument (more than 500 years old) and it’s refurbishment and equipping required substantial architectural and engineering effort.

The INSTITUTE has three major purposes: PREVENTION, DIAGNOSIS and THERAPY of diseases.

PREVENTION is performed by ‘ IL BALUARDO ‘ through aimed check-ups, verifying the illness-risk factors (relating to age, sex, heredity, work and environment conditions) in order to avoid subsequent arising of those diseases which can be foreseen as a consequence of the check-up.

DIAGNOSIS, that’s to say early and timely detection of possible or suspected diseases in progress, is performed by the use of advanced technologies such as RMI, CT Scanner, Echography, Endoscopy and Computerized Bone Densitometry.

The results of examinations, such as check-ups are immediately evaluated by a team of very experienced multi-disciplinary Specialists who can release an immediate and very comprehensive ‘ verdict ’ on the Patient’s health.

THERAPY, the effectiveness of which is greater when early diagnosis is provided, is the third line of activity of  ‘ IL BALUARDO ‘.

The INSTITUTE has a modern and well-equipped day-surgery department, where various surgical procedures can be performed.

‘ IL BALUARDO ‘ devotes a large room to PHYSICAL THERAPY, in a modern gymnasium equipped for physical rehabilitation, massotherapy, laser therapy, magneto therapy, electrotherapy and isokinetic therapy.

All the INSTITUTE health care activities are performed with the help of a staff of about 140 Professors and Medical Doctors assisted by technicians and professional nurses whose work is coordinated by a Central Medical Department operating on 81 different clinical areas. A modern computer system allows full filing of all patients’ clinical data.

PROJECTS – THEIR FINANCING

TANGRAM, for many Countries, also offers its Clients complete assistance in the financial field.

Particularly in direct negotiations, TANGRAM can guarantee medium/long term financing for works and/or supplies. Particularly interesting financing conditions are assured also for feasibility studies and designs.

TANGRAM knows the main international financial institutions (World Bank, African Development Bank, European Development Fund, Asian Bank), uses their operating standards and is also registered, as already said, with most of them.

The two main Shareholders of the Company ( both graduated Engineers ) have been active in the engineering and construction field for 25 years. They directly manage the Company.

The main Shareholder has had substantial international experience in more than 30 countries (USA, West and East Europe, Middle East, Africa, Far East, Central America) and for many years has been Senior Executive of the State Owned industrial Group in Italy. He has wide experience in engineering and in the medical field and for years has managed the Diagnostic Center of the Group. He is Managing Director of the Company since 1984.

The second Shareholder has gained wide experience as Senior Executive of primary Private Construction Companies in Italy. He has in-depth operating experience in design and construction of harbors, docks, railways and hospitals.

The third Shareholder is a Financial Group which owns the ‘ IL BALUARDO ‘ Diagnostic Center and other industrial Entities; he is the ‘historical’ Shareholder of the Company who founded TANGRAM IN 1977.

The Chairman of the Company is a Professional with great financial and administrative experience, as former Senior Executive and Vice President of first class Italian Banks and a former Chairman of a Public regional Health Authority.

Thanks to its Shareholders’ and Managers experience, TANGRAM is a medium size Company operating with the language and style of larger Groups.
